How Coffee Helps Speed Up Fat Burning


Yes, coffee can actually help you burn fat.

Coffee is a central nervous stimulant, and it can, and does help burn fats. When caffeine is consumed it starts sending signals right to your fat cells. Specifically, it orders the fat cells to start breaking down. Caffeine also increases the amount of epinephrine in your blood. Epinephrine is also known as “Adrenaline”, and this is the same hormone that helps our bodies react to very stressful situations that usually involve us being “in fight or flight” mode. In numerous studies it is shown that while a person is consuming caffeine, they also increase their resting metabolic rate, or RMR for short. A person’s RMR is determined by how many calories he or she is burning while not being active, and caffeine is shown to boost an individual’s RMR up to 11%.

Furthermore, coffee does have another helping hand when it is trying to speed up your metabolism, and that helping hand is known as chlorogenic acid. I know, more weird chemistry terminology, but fear not, we’re going to tell you exactly what this does.

Chlorogenic acid is believed to slow the absorption of different carbohydrates. This means that while it is busy working at slowing down your carbohydrate absorption, it is also working hard at reducing blood sugar levels. That is a win, win situation here folks. What is even more exciting is that you don’t need a whole lot of this stuff to get the great effects, so go ahead, drink one or two cups of coffee and be worry free.

Comparatively, maintaining a healthy weight is something we should all be striving to achieve. When you are striving to increase your metabolism and you are burning those terrible calories you will lower your risk of heart disease as well as lower your risk for diabetes, and you will also be lowering your risk of cancer.
